Creating Custom Iron-On Transfers Using Cricut

You can find Cricut iron-on material in almost every color, a variety of patterns and even glitter. But sometimes, you want to put a specific image on your shirt, bag or backpack. Cricut works for that too.

Step 1

Find the picture that you want. It can be a .jpg, .tif or .png. This worm design was chosen by one of our cousins .

Step 2

Upload the picture to your Cricut

From Cricut Design Space, select upload a image. Find your image in your file and click Open.

Select Image Type based on the complexity of your image.

Select and erase everything you do not want in your image.

Save as a “Print and then Cut Image”

Insert the image into your Project.

Step 3

Print and Cut Your Image

Size your image so it fits on your garment.

Click Make it! Remember to reverse your image.

Then print on your printer on the iron-on transfer paper following the manufacturer’s directions.

Once you print, use your Cricut to cut out your image. Cricut uses the black lines to calibrate the image so you get a perfect cut every time.

Step 4

Iron-on your image following the iron-on transfer paper manufacturer’s direction.
